On the rear of my old Crystal Mk2 the outlet pipe at the back of the actual filter housing had a non return valve built in, the Ultralow does not have this. I push fitted the Truma valve directly onto the filter housing pipe, then had to alter the pipes a little to the pressure switch, and all was well.
Resurecting thsi old thread. We have a problem with our MkII on our 1990 Coachman in that water is gushing out the side of the filter. Someone suggested the "O" ring could be faulty, but if not, is it relatively easy to upgrade to the MkIV for a novice?
I will be popping up to the dealer later today to try and buy the tool to remove the filter housing. No fun being on site with no water and no gas.
Propane gas regulator seemed to eb leaking gas. When we bought the bottle it already had the regulator fitted so assumed that it should still work okay. Difficult to judge where it is leaking from.
Thanks Micahel. I have a look at it but it seems to be one that is fitted flush with the outside caravan wall. As ours is an old caravan, the filter is actually recessed within the caravan wall and the pump and its tubing are stored inside that cavity. I am not sure whether that one would fit and if it did, where would the submersible pump be fitted?
Managed to remove the filter cap only to find that the thread onto which it screws is broken and no spare aprts for Crystal MKI filters! Hopefully Gary qwill eb able to advise.
I am from Truma UK. The Crystal II filter housing is now a discontinued product, however, we have launched an 'Ultraflow Conversion Kit'. This switches your system over to the latest model (we have moved away from MK I, II, III, IV etc).
The benefit of this kit is that it includes the new pistol connection in it so that although you will have to replace the housing, you can convert you existing pump assembly over. The details of these are:
46010-03 Ultraflow Filter Housing Conversion Kit White
The RRP is £40.05 +VAT and the kit includes a new filter housing, a replacement filter (new style), a blanking plug and a pistol connector for pump assembly conversion.
Thanks Michael. The post refers to the MKII so I am not sure if it includes the MKI. The MKI is recessed into the caravan with the pump permanently attached unlike the MKII which is flush with the outside wall and the pump is removeable. Hopefully Gary will come up with an answer.
I have since found out that you require an adaptor plate if upgrading from the MK1. Probably looking at £60 for the parts and then you have the labour. If not too difficult I hope that I will be able to do a DIY and save a few bucks!
Thanks again Gary. At the moment prefer a cost effective repair just get by until Janaury. We have now sorted out the gas heater and other issues so now it is just the water system. I will phone you tomorrow.
