Hi - hope someone can help!

Had the caravan away this weekend - electrics all working fine on both 12v and 240v.

We're off again tomorrow - just loaded up the van and realised the 12v electrics aren't working. The 240v is working fine.

Any ideas on what could be wrong?

Thanks for any help.

Michelle

Have you checked to make sure your car/van switch is set to "Van"?

Does 12v work when you have both sockets connected to car? if it does but not when disconnected from car, then your caravan battery is dead(assume you checked fuses) try charging it. It should charge if you plug in ehu 240v. If it charges then dies quickly you need a new caravan battery.

Hi Thanks for your replies.

The caravan switch is definately set to van. Hubby has checked the fuses, one block at front of van (car charger, indicators etc) and another set under side seat - all are ok. Are there any other fuses anywhere? Caravan is an Abbey County Dorset.

At the moment we have the 240v plugged in - the 240v lights are working - the fridge is working on 240v - but the 12v lights are not working and the battery indicator is not registering as charging.

Can't imagine the battery has died - it was working yesterday.

Any further ideas?

Thanks.

Have you tried the fuses in the 12v box , which should be located next to the rcd unit . Their are about 4 or 5 fuses in there .Also have you tested the battery . try putting jump laed from you car to you caravan and see want happens . Its most likly a fuse gone than the battery . try tracing the fead from the battery.

Have you tried it plugged into car? if the battery is worn out it can discharge very quickly.

Check the connections on the battery - sometimes mine come loose when travelling, if we go over speed bumps or rutted roads.

Hi all. We're now back from our long weekend away.  We didn't get it sorted - but we tested the battery - it was low. So after charging the battery up overnight - we tried the 12v electrics again which was fine - until we plugged in the 240v hookup. The battery completely discharged. So over the weekend while we were away (after charging up the battery again) if we wanted to use the water pump - we had to first disconnect the 240v supply. It was a bit of a pain - but it worked!

We now think that there may be something wrong with the inverter. What do you all think?

Thanks

Michelle
