Milton's is just an expensive way of buying bleach.  If you don't believe me look at the ingredients on a bottle of miltons and then on a bottle of bleach.  Bleach attacks stainless steel so you need to be careful that it is not too strong and it is rinsed away. 

I think that most caravan filters contain activated charcol and this will neutralise the bleach so it needs to be removed.  These filters must be great homes for bugs I'm glad we don't have one fitted.
