Hi

I just picked up a 1992 Swift Challenger 450/5 and have been spending the day trying to get everything working.

I appear to have a few challenges and was hoping that someone might be able to throw some light over them for me.

1, The the water pump seems to be stuck on all the time. As soon as I turn on the electricity it runs continually. Is there a step but step guide anywhere that I could look at to try and pinpoint why is isn't just working when I turn on the taps?

2, The cold water taps only dribble and then finally just stops. I think there is probably some air in the pipe but am not sure how to about bleeding the system (if that is what I should be doing)?

3, I am having trouble removing the water filter on the side - in seems to be stuck firm. By the looks of the dirt around it I don't think it has been taken off for a while. Anyone got any tips on how to do this?

4, Does anyone know where I can get a hold of a manual for the caravan?

Any help would be greatfully received. We hope to get away in it next weekend and although none of my questions are show stoppers I would like to start working my way through the issues.

Thanks

D

I'm guessing the constantly running pump is either because you have a hose off somewhere (if its a pressure switch system) or a microswiith on one of the taps / shower sticking open.

Can you hear a switch click when you put taps on and off? If so it is the second problem and you have a switch that is not disconecting properly thus running the pump all the time.....

I habe a '94 Swift manual if you drop me a mail on jim_ashton at ntlworld.com I'll send it you.

Hi emsylu,

I do get a click when I turn the taps on so it must be the latter problem.

Email on its way, thanks

I found the answer to my tight water filter. I never thought to use a pair of pliers!

Just a quick update. A friend of a friend  came round to see if he could fathom out the plumbing problems.

It turned out that the pump was the problem. We fitted the water pump from his van and everything worked as you would expect. Cold water shooting through and the pump only coming on when I turn on the taps.
