Hi Tina , have a look here http://www.leanneandmark.co.uk/Caravan_Repair.html is the pink shelf in the picture the one you are on about , if it is , it can be difficult to remove as they are often fixed inplace from the outside ( screws into the back of the shelf ) and then the front panel is fitted .
Best i can suggest is give the shelf a very close inspection and see if you can spot screws that have been hidden .
