I fitted a lpg alarm in my old caravan , it was approx 6inches off the floor . I still have the fitting instructions , if you'd like them send me a email ( address below ) . Ideally if possible you should contact the maker of the alarm and ask them to supply you with the alarm fitting instructions .
Understand both Propane and Butane are heavier than air, hence the requirement for floor vents in gas lockers, and bans on use in high-rise buildings and storage below ground level.
