If you cant do someone a good turn, don`t do them a bad one,its nice to be nice you know, and little things mean much more later in life.

Personally I would not use Sikaflex 512 as it is non setting. Standard bathroom sealant should be fine. I used one called Everwhite, which is mould resistant.

Hi Gaynor68 I'd be interested to hear how your project went please?

All, Is Sikaflex 512 good for sealing around a shower tray? I thought it was more for use in 'covered' seals. i.e. areas that are not likely to get toes pressed into it!

I repaired the seal around my tray last year with silicon sealant but it has come away and the shower is leaking again.

I think this is due to movement (large flange around the tray with support (and of course the fact that it is a caravan that gets towed and flexed around). And silicones are only any good where there is no movement.

So, I am now thinking a semi or non setting compound would be best.

Better still would be to fit some kind of upstand around the edge with a good sealant/adhesive as this will also increase the area that is bonded and allow for movement.

Any products (upstands and sealants) that you'd recommend.

If silicone seal comes away, then the area was probably either greasy, wet or dirty when applied. Silicone seal definately will allow some movement if applied correctly. It is designed to flex for expansion and contraction of shower trays (baths and sinks etc) as they get hot then cold. I certainly would not use non setting products , you will get covered with sticky goo at soem point. Ordinary, good quality bathroom silicone will be fine.
