My caravan has a Carver Crystal water pump connected to a compact connection on the side of the caravan. The description in the handbook is Carver Compact water system with the Thames pump L23231. I assume this is before the Crystal II came out. Can anyone tell me if the connector is the same on these models. I am wondering if I can use the Crystall II to Truma converter. The caravan is a Compass 1993 model.
I think you will find that the Carver/Truma Compact is the Mk2 version (the Crystal 2 had the screw in filter and the same inlet). I have never seen a Mk3 Compact (doesn't mean they didn't do one) but if you DO have a Mk3 inlet then a conversion is available to convert to Mk2.
The Mk2 has the water inlet side by side and the Mk3 had one above the other. The latest version is the Truma Ultraflow.
My existing pump has an intermittent fault and I am trying to replace it but it seems they are no longer available. There are a few secondhand ones on ebay but noticed the new ones advertised are called Crystal II. I just wondered if these would fit.
I think that you'll find that the fitting on the end of the pump is the same i.e. it hasn't changed. but unless that fitting is broken you could change just the pump.
Thinking about it a bit more I wonder if there was not a problem with the contacts on the carver system - a major reason for me to choose Whale when I installed my original water systems.
Gary of Arc Systems is very helpful and has answered questions on here about the pumps before
It depends what you mean by an intermittent fault. If you have to waggle the connector to get it to work it could be the electrical pins need cleaning/widening but do look carefully to check if the Compact inlet is cracked. Replaced mine last year.
