hi

i have this reich tap. http://www.leisureshopdirect.com/caravan/water/product_37149/reich_mixer_tap_chrome_-_left_hand_90_degree_spout.aspx

I failed to leave taps open over winter (never knew i needed to as i am new to caravanning) the tap now leaks from the bottom and i do not want to buy a full new tap. I read that they have a cartridge which can be replaced but cannot see how the tap comes apart.Any help very much appreciated. Thank you

I did leave mine open and it was still frost damaged. Replaced it last week - took thesink out to access the bottom of the tap. I was not aware of any cartridge and have tried in the past to take one apart but failed.

Take out the red and blue centres (I got them out with my finger nails) underneath is a screw, undo this and the handle will come off then you can remove the outer chrome casing, there is a piece that activates the microswitch which comes off exposing 4 screws holding the ceramic disc in (the screws are phillips or pozis and are extremely tiny) ceramic discs don't leak (theoretically) and it is normally the 'o'ring that causes the problem. It's also worth checking the spout as well as these sometimes split or have problems with the 'o'ring

Are you sure it's the cartridge and not the knuckle or spout.  I recently had to replace both on mine and they are available separately.

hi

thanks for your replies

the leak was from under the sink. the hoses were extremely secure and it was coming from the base of the tap. i have the top of the tap off now but will need to buy/borrow a tiny (allen key i think it is) as mine are not small enough. calling at neighbours to see if he has anything suitable to unscreww the tiny srews.

Cannot see the leak wud be from the spout and not sure what you call the knuckle but im open to suggestions if it helps. How do i go about checking the knuckle and the spout ? thanks

Tracey

The knuckle is the angle piece that joins the spout to the tap body.

If your leak is under the sink then it could be where the pipes go into the tap - they are only a push fit, again with 'o'rings, and held in with a plastic pin, later versions of the tap now have a length of flexi piping instead of the solid connectors

hi

thanks

i cannot even pull the push fit pipes off (tried this when i couldnt see a way to dismantle the tap from the top. i was going to try remove the entire tap but couldnt even pull the pipes off to get to the screw fitting holding the tap to the sink. they really are very very tight so cannot see they wud be leaking. the leak was higher, more like the base of the tap. May need a new tap but want to try salvage if i can.Just need the tiny allen key then i can take a closer look at the cartridge and the o rings etc.

thank you

The screws have a Torx head. Rolson do a cheap set of small Torx drivers.

IF you look on the Reich website:www.reich-web.com, then click on the "SERVICE" link, then select the "German" language option there are a whole series of Pdf files clearly showing how to strip/ replace cartridges / microswitches on the Reich range of taps.
