I'm about to buy a 20 yr old Freedom Jetstream. It's actually been looked after and serviced well. But there is a very slight smell of mould around the roof area....the lining is coming down (normal for Freedoms and I know I will have to re-line it). The owner tell me that over winter the lining on one side fell down and was positioned over the wall vent...she stuck it back up when she found it. I'm wondering whether the vent could have let in some damp (with the terrible winter) then the lining went a bit mouldy and dried out. The smell is really quite feint but I think it needs checking out before I commit just in case it has a leak. The question is how do I check if a seam is leaking when it's underneath lining??? I was thinking of getting someone in to have a look...does anyone know of any honest mobile caravan people around Feltham/Sunbury way?? I don't want to pay a fortune and only need this one thing looked at.

Any advice would be gratefully received as I have to sort this out in the next week.

Thanks

I would recommend that you buy yourself a damp meter and use this to check the seam. That way you will know very quickly if water is getting in.

Failing that try MCEA, they have mobile caravan engineers located all around the country, and do pre-inspection tests for a fee.

Good Luck, with the prospective purchase.
