Just given the van a nice wash and brush up.
I've used black streak remover in the past to clean it and it was a good one (as you can see from the pictures). Can't remember which one but I did use it neat and with good results.
What do you all use, which is considered the best these days?
Or any other ideas?
Thanks Shaft. That's what I used!!
Is that a good price? It's a 50 mile round trip to our nearest camping shop so postage is cheaper than petrol unless we are going to town anyway (not again tillnext Sunday)
Hi Fenwicks caravan wash sprayed on neat and washed off then wash the full van including the ROOF!!!! using fenwicks. That stuff on ebay and everywhere else is just fenwicks caravan wash in a smaller bottle and more expensive.
Dry the van then polish with autoglynn super resin polish and buff off Then polish again with autoglynn Extra Gloss Protection this will seal the paint work.
All this hard work does pay off and if you do it twice a year you van will look like new and NO back streaks!!! or if you do get one it just washes off with normal shampoo.
Once you have spent all this time polising your van use autoglynn shampoo or turtle wax shampoo and NOT Fenwicks as this will take the polish off.
I find the best thing is "MUC OFF" cycle cleaner from Halfords, spray it on & wash off, also gets rid of the hardened dead flies. If there is black in crevices joints etc just work it in with a paint brush then was as normal,
You should have seen it before yesterday - frankly i had let it get in a disgraceful state.
Sun is out today and all the cleaning and polishing is possible - but not the trip to buy it all.
Joe - I never thought of Muc-off. We use that for all sorts at work and I'm always saying how great it is. Shifts everything.I think we have some in the bike shed. If not i'm back in work on Sunday so will get some then
Will get something of everything just in case.
Judy - we had the van first (about 12 years ago we bought it) but it's got a problem with the water (comes out over the wheel arch) bu ttat's another problem Im going to post about when I finished the cleaning
i asked the very same question some time ago and got some fenwicks as a result.
incidentally the little spray bottle labled as black streak remover is just a 1:10 mix of the normal fenwicks cleaner according to the bottle....so if you have a spray bottle just get refill and mix it yourself
