i have an avondale grampian 1992 model, which ive had for 5 years, last weekend the oven door handle just fell to bits as i tried to open it! Now im having trouble trying to replace it, as i know avondale went bust, does anyone know where i can get spare parts,or maybe an alternative to the original handle. The oven is a 3000 countess.
Hi Quillie, I had the same problem last year and from what I can recall the entire door falls in bits without the handle in place. Mine cracked around the screw hole on one side and when I came to open the door, the other side broke as well.
To fix it I cut two small pieces of aluminium sheet(one for each side) and glued them, using araldite, to the underside of the handle to form "splints". When the araldite had set I drilled the aluminium to form the fixing holes and refitted.
Hope this helps.
