Can anyone help please? We're new to motorhoming and we made the error of not leaving our taps open during the cold spell, now when we turn the pump on we have leaks from the ingoing pipes for the sink and shower, this is without turning the taps on. I've seen previous messages regarding something similar which mentioned a crack in the cartridge, so bought two new cartridges, however this hasn't helped, a plumber friend said it must be the pipes and to get new ones.
Will we be able to get the pipes without having to buy the whole tap unit, what do we look for and where can we get them please.
Thankfully we've been able to carry on using the M/H due to the great facilities on the sites we've visited.
You can buy replacement piping at any good caravan accessory store.
If its a flexible type hose it usually 12mm in size. Just make sure you use food grade pipe, as its supposed to be for drinking water. If you can locate the leak in the pipe you may be able to cut it out and rejoin it with a suitable connector or if its close to the end, shorten it, if length allows?
Are you sure it's the internal pipework and not the water inlet housing causing the issue? Crystall II is especially problematic on this. I know having replaced mine twice due to leaking.
The leak to the shower/bathroom sink is coming out from the incoming pipe into the cupboard underneath the sink, we can't see where the kitchen sink leak is, the water is appearing on the floor coming from behind the fridge, but as it's only happening when the pump is on we assume it must be the incoming pipe.
We've tried looking underneath the van but can't see anything, so we may have to take the fridge out to see properly.
What do you mean by water inlet, is it the pipe going into the taps?
As you can probably tell we're not 'handy' people!
Can you post some pictures of the set up that would help members advise you better.
By water inlet I mean the Plastic housing the pump plugs into. This has the plastic pipe connections that join via flexible pipework or semi ridgid to the taps and various facilities in the caravan. I've added a picture on this thread here, that shows the housing. Is this your set up?
If it's appearing from a pipe in a cupboard sounds like a loose connection/joint. I would lay down plenty of towels, run the taps one at a time and try and locate the leaking point. It may be a siple as having to tighten a clip. If you suspect the taps are cracked then, replacing them would probably be the best option.
