hi there i have just bought a hobby caravan with a truma heating system, it has got an electronic ignition device that runs off a small pencil battery, when i try to ignite the fire nothing happens, no spark no sound, gas is getting through though. I have bought a new battery, checked the wires but nothing....it is a sealed unit and the wires lok ok.....please help as it would be nice to be able to get my heating working.....many thanks

It does not need to be on the heater to test it, disconnect it so you have it in your hand

Now use a screwdriver to short out the two pin connections that attach to the wires to the switch in the gas valve. This should get it to click, (spark), don't get your hand near the third connection on the back then!!

If it still does not spark then hopefully it's a battery connection problem, now it's in your hand, this should be plain to see, clean off any corrosion and try again.

If it still does not work then I'm afraid it needs replacing and their not cheap!

Thanks Gary......I shorted both pins out and made sure it was a new bettery and that the connections are clean....no spark so it looks like it's a new unit i suppose....many thanks anyway
