Anyone know a way to test the above? Everyone else on site seems to have TV reception but we can't get anything - first time away in this van so don't know whether it's poor reception or broken equipment.

We have a Status 530 aerial, and a Status booster.

Are their aerials the same orientation as yours i.e. are they vertical or horizontal? TV signals can be vertically or horizontally polarised so make sure your aerial is of the same oriention.

Try and point it in the same direction and check that your connections look in good condition. If you have a lead running from the wall socket to the tv, make sure it's decent quality, in good nick and not a really thin one. Father in law replaced his in his static and went from no picture to a good picture!

Try retuning the tv if you've travelled a long way. Tv channels operate on different frequencies depending on which mast you are receiving from. If it's a digital box then check the menu out, as sometimes you have a signal strength indicator (as with Sky) so you can fine tune your aerial alignment.

If all else fails...ask someone else on site, they might assist or at worst they can say no. As Bob Hoskins used to say...it's good to talk!!

Hi. Have you ever had reception ?  If not I suggest you check the plugs and sockets where the aerial plugs in to the booster.  On my new van the outer sheathing wire was shorting to the inner cable on both ends !! Think the fitter must have been short sighted.

Failing that get a dish.

Asda sell a £12 gizmo wot you plug the aerial lead into. Twiddle aerial. When you get max. no. of green LEDs, you're there!  Remember that unlike analogue , digital transmissions are either ON or OFF ; there aint no grey areas in between.
