Has anyone got any advice on removing the remenants of very old sellotape from the inside of a caravan window?

My van has old tape (looks like it held an A4 'for sale' sign in years ago) right in the middle of the window.  The tape is old and brittle (it may even be the old adhesive thats left, rather than the tape itself) and it's making the window look messy.

Any advice gratefully received!

On our house windows we use a stanley knife to scrape the sellotape off.  Not sure if i'd want to do that on plastic windows though.  I think betterware or probably ebay do a sticky stuff remover but i've never used it

WD40 or other 3 in one oil, will get the glue of labels etc. so should do glue on sellotape. Wash with soapy water after to remove any residue.

Dont do this on a sunny day. Make sure window is not in sunlight.

Take a piece of paper kitchen towel, torn to well cover the sticky-tape adhesive.Put on rubber gloves( the cheap disposable type will do).

Apply a drop of white spirit to dampen the kitchen towel, and apply it flat to the adhesive. so it "sticks" to the window.(Gloves keep the WS off skin : I get cracked skin if I get WS on me : I'm sensitised after 30 years working with chemicals ).

Make a cup of tea.Drink it. ( Remove gloves first)

Replace gloves. With a piece of cloth in hand ( well-washed cotton knickers are good), remove kitchen-towel from window. Adhesive should be well softened, so that firm rubbing with cloth brings it off ,like little balls of snot.

Repeat above if necessary ( tea optional).

When satisfied that all snot gone, with a clean piece of cloth, apply a drop of dilute washing-up liquid, to "kill" the WS. Dry.

For a final polish, use liquid Brasso or try toothpaste.

PS.  WD-40 or generic alternatives may work as well as WS.

WD-40 does the job well, so too does the orange smelling 'sticky stuff remover' you can get. Both are non-abrasive and get the job done.

I like wilfotrev's idea best. So relaxing hasn't got a care in the word attitude, brilliant.

I would suggest summat different. Take a piece of A4  paper, write on it "FOR SALE" and stick it in the exact place the other one was, and let the new owner have the problem. The person you bought it off probably did the same to you LOL OR take the window out and put another in.Simple.But here's hoping one of the tips above work.In the meantime ,just keep the curtain shut so you can't see the marks.

Used WD40 very successfully on the remains of a very sticky label on our new (to us) caravan. Washed it off with warm soapy water.
