hi all, recently discovered rotting wall board on our 2003 lunar 615 inside front storage compartment. it seems that the o/s rail is allowing water in somehow. at present, the damp wall has not entered the inside of the van (although its on its way under seats). i contacted local repair shop, and they said it was a special "bonded" awning rail that would need completely replacing, as they could not remove, repair , and fix back on ! i have found the suppliers that lunar use for the awning rail. does anybody think the job is a DIY or should i pay £250+. have read lots about repairing older rails, but confused with this so called "bonded" rail ! where would i get "bedding mastic"? and sikaflex 512 ?
any comments greatly appreciated , thanks ,paul

the only silly question is the one you do not ask.

I think they are blagging me a bit.. perhaps its easier to rip off older rail, and noy worry about bending or damaging it ! the rail looks just like others ive seen, with plastic /rubber bit in the middle. i presume the screws are underneath and the mastic does look deteriorated in parts. as the rail is in three lengths (25ft van), do they join together in any special way, or just butt up to the next length ? i have found the bedding mastic on-line and other bits needed. just a bit worried of botching it !
