received a dent and slice in side of caravan from a flying hub cap. The outer skin of the caravan has been broken and the insulation is visible. Does anyone know if this is repairable or will the caravan be written off
I had the same problem with my abbey, we caught it on a bolt sticking out of a fence. We straightened out and removed the old metal, cut a new piece of aluminium big enough to cover the hole, covered it with sikaflex 512 and screwed it into place, cleaned off excess mastic and repainted it to match, can hardly notice it and cost £20
It depends what sort of repair you want. A professional repair to 'as new' standard would be very expensive & if your insurance co. decides the repair would cost more than the 'vans' worth it will be a write off.
Nobody can actually answer your question until you provide age/details of your caravan but certainly a cheap viable repair is possible as described in the above post.
if its at the right height you can repair by filling the split and fitting a thin sheet of alloy over with sikaflex, then fit a false vent over the top.couple of weeks you will forget its there.
