This is probably one for Gary at Arc, but I appreciate any help on this one.
Having towed my parents caravan to site at the weekend, the Fanmaster 3000s seems to be playing up.
Here's the situation...
1) The gas lights and works fine everytime. (although could do with a full clean and overhaul probably).
2) The blown air fan was working last season, but now will not switch on (on any setting).
3) The Carver FM Control panel (the one with little yellow LEDs) is flashing on self test then slowing to a more regular continous flash (indicating an error?), rather than remaining on.
4) The electric heating element (hook up mains), has never worked. (mains switch on with light but no heat) I managed to 'click' the reset on the back of the unit, but did so while it was still warm from the gas. May have to have another go at that once it's cooled.
So my questions to you fine people...
a) For the gas part, I'm planning to get a qualified engineer to give it a service.
b) For the electric fan, I suspect the control panel or the fan motor?
c) For the electric heating element, try the reset again, then if no joy, replace the element?
In total, a potential for a new control panel, new fan/motor, new element. Roughly how much and where can I get these bits from?
Your thoughts, experiences and opinions very welcome on this.

Good idea

Motors rarely fail as such, just wear and overload the control board or sometimes the wall switch, or both!

If indeed you have a reset? the 3000S was fitted in 94 and early 95, the original early 95 fanmaster did not have a reset. However many reset upgrades will have been retro fitted by now, not by any means all of them though, I sell about 50 kits a year!
Elements of which there are two, are bomb proof so will not be at fault

This would mostly come under a full overhaul and I have a fixed price for this that covers 98%.
However early ones such as those fitted to 3000S gas fires have two possible extra's, one being the reset switch upgrade, and the other a fan motor modification, repairing your switch should it be faulty is yet another extra.
You will need to contact me direct for prices
Element and Fan motor unlikely then, so I'm looking at control board as the possible cause of the fan not working, and the possible lack of reset (or reset switch) for the element not working.
You're comment, "overload the control board or sometimes the wall switch", am I correct in thinking the control board is the one that's got the flashing LEDs on? (or is it another seperate board?)
Here's my plan then...
1) Retry the electric system reset when I'm next in the van (and check to see if there is really a reset there at all). See if this works.
2) Narrow down and clarify what works and what doesn't, (Fan, Electric Heat, Reset)
3) Speak to the parents to decide what they want to do regarding next steps (i.e give you a shout).
Ours wasn't working last week. We had a brand new battery supplied with the van in November - took it home (van is on seasonal pitch), put it on charge till fully charged and hey presto everything works now!
Just a thought if your parents van has been standing all winter!
