Hi

The plastic trim that covered the side rail, protects the screws holding the side on came away on the A1 so when I got home I have run cream coloured external sealant all along it to prevent water ingress. 

Will this be sufficient?  The caravan is about 10 years old so spared trim will not be available.

yes that is all did when ours fell out due to age shrinkage.i used a clear filler.keeps water from screws too.

Do you mean that rubber strip inside the metal trim strip? If so it's available at caravan shops by the meter

If its the plastic strip inside the awning rail and the other side i would advise on changing it.I found that sticking this down does no good as it will only come off some where else with shrinkage.

No I have filled the groove with sealant and smoothed it so it looks tidy.

What about when the rail needs taking off and you have to spend ages picking silicone out though? Surely it's just as cheap and easier to do the job properly?

The screws were spaced evenly so if I ever have to take it off I will have no trouble finding them as long as I remember the location of the first one.

I'll look in to getting proper trim though.
