SOUNDS LIKE THE THERMOCOUPLE HAS HAD IT.
The thermocouple sits in the flame , when it gets hot it acts like a magnet pulling the valve open to allow full flow of gas.
If there has been a splillage onto the burner and there is no flame at the thermocouple this will give the same fault

Just had a recent thread on this and as it happened to us, we had caravan door open and when it was shut didn't go out, was the wind blowing it out, someone else said it may happen when they had the blown air heating on.

I had the same problem a few years ago and it turned out to be a flatterned rubber gas pipe in the front locker and I found that after checking everything else.Ian
