Hi all I'm new to this an really really need help!looks like the best place to come for it lol Right lol I bought a caravan the other day and was really stupid to just take the sellers word for EVERYTHING!it's the first one I've bought an it's an absolute mess.now it has damp in the back bottom corner looks like someone's tried to fix it in the past but not very successful how much is it likely to cost to fix or would I be able to do it myself lol secondly I had someone come look at it for me who says the floor is soft!!now the floor has proper wooden floor down and now he's mentioned it does seem a bit uneven.there's no discoloring in the floor and underneath the van looks still dry and solid what do you think the problem is and how do I solve it???please please help every time I look at the van another problem appears with it!I've grew to hate it and I've only had it a week grrrrrtheres more problems but well leave it at that for now lol thank all xx

Hi there. I have recently bought a caravan which is also in a bad way. Although I knew about some of the problems I didn't realise how bad the damp was!! Determined to fix it up though, so I did the same as you and hit the internet. I have now started the work, and it is going well thanks to the advice I gleaned from this forum and Wizards damp website which is a must to see what others have done --

http://www.1carpc.co.uk/wcdr/

Take some photos of the damp in the walls and post them on here. You will get plenty of good advice. Does the floor feel spongy or bouncy? If so you could have delamination, which is not so bad if you catch it early. I think you can even buy a repair kit from some accessory shops. If you're going to tackle the damp then you're going to need some DIY skills and plenty of patience! Good luck and welcome to the team!

John.

Arrr thank you for a quick reply! The floor feels a little spongy but it's the whole floor which is confuseing me?I would of thought if the whole floor was damp then it would maybe be showing underneath the caravan by now or on the wooden floor if it had spread that much or smell like damp or something?I don't know im new to all this lol I'm half tempted to sell it again only let the people know about the probblem rather than hide it from them like what happened to me(I couldn't do that to someone me).I wanted something ready to go and now I'm far from it grrrrr Glad ur managing to tackle your problem hope you get it all sorted!I will post some pics on tomorrow maybe make my problems clearer lol again thanks for you response :)

I would call the floor lumpy rather than spongy lol but what do I know!Someone said it looks like it has be a travelers caravan don't know why he thought that though think just on the floor because the rest of the caravan looks ok.Would the fact it had been well used make it lumpy I don't know HEEELP lol

Book price is about £3400 so you've done well getting it for £2100 , it maybe the owners knew there were some problems with the van hence the lower price .
Where about are you in the Uk , if you can, email me lots of pics both inside and out .

I read a thread recently on here regarding floor delamination. Here is the link as I found this quite interesting and maybe useful in the future.

Hi pls help, the damp in the caravan is worse than first thought all around the door the wall is rotted, the wood is just crumbling, the floor as you walk in the van is also rotted, we don't know where to start, can anyone recommend a site that shows you what to do. The damp in the wall around the door has spread and it looks like part of the wall will need replacing too. HELP,

Moo Moo, you need to start your own thread on here and add some pictures then you will get a bigger response. I have just done my van and it sounds very similar prob to yours so if I can see some pics then it would help.

First of all you need to find where it is geting in ( door sealant/awning rail/awning light) then strip down inside to let it dry out.
