I have to put a new ceiling in, I know to put the polysterine in first which i will use a spary adhesive to attch to the roof, but at each side of the ceiling i have joist to lay it on, but can not staple it, so I have to glue it, but cant put any pressure on to make it stick.
My idea is to do as i i have said but before i do this to make two tiny holes in the roof, which will be hidden by the cupboards, but a piece of plywood on the other side tied to string, so when i put the ceiling on, i can tie the string to bricks to pull the ceiling down to put pressure on the glue and it sticks.
What do you guys think or do you know a better way
This is a difficult one and I wouldnt have a clue where to start. I am interested though as I have a damp spot on the ceiling. The only thing I will say is that spray adhesive contains solvents and solvents melt polysterine so you may have to reconsider your adhesive.
thank you for the advice on the adhesive, i am taking photos if i new of an easy to put them on here i would do, may be a word document with the photos on, everything stripped ready, i am just joping wednesday or thursday is a good day so i can re seal it, and then on saturdat i will put in the new ceiling, i will take lots of photos and hard and good points what I have found, it would be good to give something back as i have taken lots of advice from this site
How about cutting a couple of pieces of wood the breadth of the van,put them up to the new ceiling then,chock them with more wood cut to size from the floor to the ceiling ?like miners do.

You could make simple props like plasterers use to hold plasterboard to the ceiling. You need some 2x1 the width of the board (approx) then another length just shorter than the height of the van. Screw them together to form a T and you can position the board and jam the T prop in, to hold it up. 2 or 3 would be enough for an8x4 sheet so you might need fewer depending on the size you are sticking
think you all mis understood me, the ceiling sits on the wood frame of the caravan at the sides, what i am saying is I can apply no nails, but the force needs acting down on, ie pull the roof of and hold the rrof down on the sides if you know what i mean, in the middle their is a wood frame, so for this bit the chocking would be a good idea, and when i am mean holes in the ceiling, thats the plywood but not the aluminium
