On my last trip when reversing on to pitch I hit back of caravan which resulted in a cracked back panel, I am sure I read some where that acetone can literally weld plastic by dissolving it. Can anyone can confirm this please.

Acetone is the solvent for ABS. You can make ABS glue by melting ground up scrap ABS with acetone.

it will be the solvent used for waste pipe, don't know of any brand names, I usually just ask for waste pipe solvent.
like this stuff
Ive not tried it, but I would think that the cement used for airfix would work, its of a similar consistency and smell

You can also use a cyanoacrylate super glue and an activator - its widely used in the uPVC industry, it actually melts the two plastics together. Once bonded correctly it will not separate! Bit like normal superglue but much stronger and instant.
Available from all uPVC stockists and good hardware shops. Forget B&Q and places like that though.
