Our 2007 Abbey kitchen monobloc was loose.  I could feel underneath a loose nut, and started to tighten it - found i was loosening it as water started to come through, i tightened it and it still was leaking.  Now the nut is tight, the tap feels more secure but the middle part of the tap is leaking.  What have I done, is it fixable??

Could be a split due to frost last winter,is it a mixer tap ? someone said there is a filter inside of them which goes and its cheaper to buy the filter.

My mates Michael went this year to,it was a disc thing inside the tap that chooses which kind of water youd like,eg hot or cold or mixed.
