Can anyone tell me what type of fitting goes on the air intake ducting which is situated behind and slightly above the Carver SB 1800 heater. This is fitted in a 1988 Elddis whirlwind.
we have a Carver 1800 in our 1995 Elddis, we had to fit one of these to it as well as the control panel as both were missing from our van. Not sure if we have the exact same fire as info is at the van (which is in storage)

Belay that, I'm thinking you mean attached in the middle of the fires rear surround, you can just see it over the top of the fire?
This then is not an intake but an exit and will be the remains of the special attachment that Carver made to connect their Junior fan for blown air. Truth is and if I'm right, it was useless and probably why it's in the state it is!
You're on the button with your second message. There are 4 screw holes as though something has been fitted originally, but not there now. I think I'll just cover it with a louvre to hide the hole.
Hi, I'm restoring a 1990 Mirage and it has a SB1800 fitted with a blanking plate over the hole that you are talking about. I wanted to fit blown air so I bought a Truma TEB2 fan from a caravan breaker, a bit like this one but a lot cheaper! It works great, circulating the heat from the SB1800 to the front, back and washroom, but also helps cool the 'van with the heater off. It doesn't have the 230V element like the fanmaster but I think it's a worthwhile upgrade. I'll probably be selling the blanking plate on at some point.
I already have an underseat fan drawing air from heater and distributing around the van.so I have now fitted a canopy to collect hot air from the rear of the heater and directing it to the hole in question. Seems to work a little better but time will tell. Thanks for taking an interest.
