Hi, recently brought an ABI Jubilee Envoy GT 1994 and discovered damp behind the trim at the rear of the cabin.

Following advice on this site I've removed some of the wall board to expose the problem.

Looking at the timbers the horizontal member beneath the windows in totally rotten and crumbling and I shall replace it, however, what about the vertical corner timbers. Can they be cut out and replaced easily or is it a nightmare.

I've discovered that the leaks come from the awning strip and the rear strip beneath the rear window and shall be resealing this weekend following the purchase of mastic roll and some mastic sealant.

Any other tips as this will be my first time, the rest of the caravan appears dry.

Michael, thanks for the reply, I've been reviewing the Wizard site and those of others and they've given me the confidence to tackle this project.

However, I do need some advice with the vertical corner members. Once I remove the wallboard can I just cut out the rotten member and replace or are they structural and is it possible to remove them easily (any tips).

Finally, I'm going to use 3mm plywood to patch the missing bits of wall-board, where it butts to the existing wall board what's the best tip for finishing; vinyl wallpaper or something else. I presume I cannot remove all the wallboard as it's bonded to the polystyrene insulation.

Would imagine that they are structural, so only do one side at a time with a makeshift prop to the roof. Once you have replaced them they will be bonded to the ally outside skin and screwed n glued to the good timber left so will be more structurally sound than it is now
