Hi guys

Im a newbie to caravanning but love DIY and about 3 months bought a ABI Ace Pioneer XL with damp which I have nearly finished damp repairing and am busy renovating it in a american retro diner style interior ( for the wife mainly).

So I would say i am fairly savvy on some stuff but my mom had just bought an old CI sprite which has only 12v lights and someone has after fitted 240 EHU which just runs 2 sockets. first question is that if I use this with the correct breaker etc to fit some 240v lights will they use lots of amps when on a sites EHU.

secondly it has no apparent gas heater fitted to keep van warm and no place I could see where one may have been fitted. so did they make these vans with no heating ( I know they are basic but OMG)

Cheers Guys

Rob

240v lights won't use many amps, fit a fluorescent tube or just plug in a bedside lamp. Older basic 'vans often did not have heaters fitted, if it did originally have a gas heater fitted you certainly wouldn't want to be using it now after 20odd yrs. If you are on ehu, plug in a fan heater or oil filled rad. Most ehu's are 10amp so shouldn't trip.

We had an 1984 Musketeer and it didn't have a heater in it.

i have just bought a ci sprite musketeer, believed to be a 1980 model. this has 12 volt lighting as stated but has the "luxury" of a gas heater!..someone has added ehu at some stage in its life..next weekend we are going to give it its maiden outing (with us atleast) its in lovely condition and no signs of damp.looking forward to many years of retro caravanning now.
