hello. my brother has bought a caravan, 2005 swift conqueror 640 sal.. the 3 gas rings on cooker are fine but the electric plate does not heat up, any ideas please
I would bet that these hotplate elements are available as a standard replacement for ordinary domestic electric cookers. Try shopping around and you will probably find a reasonably cheap solution if the hotplate is faulty.
When your outfit is connected to a hook up, the hotplate on the cooker is no different to a hotplate on a cooker in a house.
Mention the word caravan and the price will immediately treble!
Also, look in the cupboard below the cooker, it could be plugged into a socket in there. Ours is, but the socket is even hidden behind a removable board at the back of the cupboard.
The fuse in the plug may be blown, or a wire to the socket could be loose.
On ours, this socket is on the same MCB as the other sockets.
If you find a socket there, plug something else into it to see if it works.

After searching high and low for a fuse controlling the hotplate I looked in the small cupboard under the oven and sure enough I found the plug, detached from the socket!! I can only blame the wife! Thanks for your help.

We leave ours unplugged for safety reasons. It is all too easy to inadvertently turn it on and shatter the cover glass.
Assuming that you have a modern caravan, it is not possible to accidentally turn on either the gas or electric hobs with the glass cover in place.
A microswitch concealed in the hinge mechanism prevents operation of both fuels unless the lid is fully opened.
