Hi guys

Ive got an electrolux 3 way fridge RM4271 which wont work on gas. The pilot lights but wont stay in no matter how long you hold the knob in. Is it the defo the thermocouple or could it be a stat or gas valve problem. Any thoughts would be appreciated. And any suggestions about where to get the spares would be good also.

Cheers.

thermocouple is the prime suspect.

I agree - probably the thermocouple.

I was going to add that as they are quite cheap - (the one for my Camping Gas free standing fridge was less than a fiver a few years back) - but I have just had a quick look and they are nearly £50 for that fridge (official Electrolux spare).

If it were me, I'd get the fridge out, remove the thermocouple, and scout around for a 'generic' one.  Once you've got the fridge out, give the burner a good clean and try it again - worked for me once as the burner was covered in cr*p

Also heard that build up of dust etc from years in a van can cause the pilot light to go out. May be worth trying to give a clean with vac or blowing down the pipe etc if taking out (i'd do the normal turn upside doen at the same time to make sure the chemicals are mixed).

Worth a try ...

Good luck

Cheers folks.

It sounds like I'll start with a good clean and take it from there. I'll let you know how I get on.

Before going down the route of removing the fridge a simple vacuum of the vertical gas exhaust tube may well do the trick, carefully remove the fridge external top grille and vacuum out the tube. It could as simple as a spiders web or a general build up of debris, all of which will prevent the pilot from igniting.

Cheers Roger, that sounds like a sensible starting point before i take the fridge out. I'm going to take a look at it today, I hope it's as simple as that.

It was all working last year when I put a new 230v element in and a new thermocouple while it was out. I've not used it on gas as we always go for a hook-up but it was working, so I'm thinking it could well be some sort of deris or spiders web issue rather than a T/C failure. or maybe the T/C has moved out of the flame, i can't remember how the flame end was held in place.

All fixed.

Gave the burner section a good clean out and then re-aligned the flame end of the T/C.

Not sure which was the problem but it works great now. Thanks for all the advice.

Hi

I have a problem with the gas operation of my Dometic RM 7361 L 3 way fridge. 240v & 12v both work fine.

The pilot flame ignites and the burner heats up (blue flame) but doesn't roar. However the gas doesn't cool the fridge down, no matter what setting I put it on.

Should different temperature settings on the fridge affect the flame / heat at the burner or is the flame running at a constant level until the fridge reaches the desired temperature, at which point the thermostat switches the gas off?

I have cleaned the flue and all gas lines & the gas jet & gas burner.

Any ideas anyone, please?

Mike

As you have cleaned all the suspect areas could be the thermostat, the thermostat controls the flame in that it controls the amount of gas passing to the burner.
