Hello again,can anyone tell me how can you tell year of caravan,we are haveing probs with an american fifthwheel caravan,the plate on caravan states 4.10.2007.but was sold to us as 2008,if the plate is correct as im hopeing some one can tell us or tell me where l can inquire ,lf correct l have the right to reject,but im makeing sure of my facts,thanks in advance
Maybe it was built in Oct 2007, if the same system is used in the states as UK it could probably be a 2008 model.I have a boat built in the states that was built in late 1997 but is classed as a 1998 model.
Is 4/10/97 4th Oct 1997or 10 April 2007? as it maybe that the USA uses a date system different to ours in the UK, many European countries use month/day/year.
Check serial number if it is on the plate and contact the manufacturer so you can decipher it.
If caravan is US built, 4.10.07 will be 10th April '07 in US date format. I would guess your best bet would be to email chassis number on plate to manufacturer. From that they should know date of build.
To confuse the issue, if caravan has chassis made in different factory from body & this is build date of chassis, I would think actual build date will be date body was built.

but will keep digging,we was sold a bad one,extensive de-lamination,he s not wanting to refund till next year but says he will sell for us lol,he was asked for fuel costs to which he said and quote if you want fuel costs at a cost of £250 so be it lol,but how many £250 is he prepared to fork out if job not satisfactory,
so if plate and 5th wheeler is 2007 ,we havve a right to reject,if not its refund,replace or repare, me thinks we have stupedly been miss led
Try posting a picture & somebody should know manufacturer.
found this website list of US 5th wheeler manufacturers. Your dealer will probably argue it is a 2008 model but to have any comeback you really do need to find out manufacturer & establish exact date of construction.
it was obviously completed then ,BUT with a bit of thought it will turn out to be a 2008 MODEL ,i.e it will have had to travel from makers to a dealer to be sold ,it will have had to have had pre-delivery checks over there the same as here ,with only a 8 week gap between mnf and xmas i would assume it was first registered in 2008 same way most cars are ,if it was shipped from the states to here new by sea the same applies 2008 ,or as if as i suspect it came via u.s forces into the u.k i know they have long importation times at lakenheath to get them in ,i was actually discussing this with a u.s serviceman last year so i know its fact .your only possible comeback is if as tentz states the date plate is in american style
