Ultraheat has decided it doesn't want to work anymore. Control switch lights up green and you can hear the relay on the control board click when you twiddle the thermostat, yet the bugger won't come on (although oddly worked on the 500W setting last night and stopped working again this morning). Presumably the element has gone or there's some thermal cutoff inside the unit that's packed up? Any ideas?
And to top it all off, my gas ran out last night. I've got a new bottle but there's hardly any pressure now. Fire will light (just) but won't work on anything above setting 1 and although one burner on the hob will work, any more than that and there flames just fizzle out. Has the regulator finally packed up? Where's the cheapest place to find a replacement!
I actually quite like having no heater (and very little wall insulation and no double glazing!)
The trick is to have a lovely mug of hot chocolate, tuck a hot water bottle into the bed then go for a bracing walk round the site before coming back to the van, getting into your onesie and snuggling into bed!
Our bulkhead regulator failed after 12months and they are not covered by the warrenty we had a new one fitted (£47) and were also advised to get a stainless steel pigtail and keep said pigtail above the gas valve so that any residue falls back into the bottle and so far so good...

Just to clarify and although it's the Truma supplied 'GOK' twin stage regulator failing, it is not the fault of what is, the regulators superior design.
Further, and although single stage bottle, or, indeed bulkhead mounted, let the contamination pass through, so not failing themselves, this is not to say more expensive damage is then not caused elsewhere in the system?!
Because it is! and that has been the case long before 2003 when this system was adopted?!!
So in this case and if it is the reg at fault, the clue might well be the act of changing the bottle, as it's from here the 'oil' contamination comes that wrecks the Truma bulkhead mounted regulator.
My Advice then is to minimise any disturbance of the bottle while travelling from buying it to fitting it, particularly avoid laying the bottle on it's side.
Finally and before fitting, crack open and shut the valve a couple of times to clear anything that might be trapped in the neck below the valve.
This way any oil that might be within is more likely left where it's settled in the bottom of the bottle and out of harms way

Does this mean you can do away or not bother fitting a GAS FILTER ?
Thanks,
Andy.
