What screws should I be using when it comes to replacing the mastic sealing along our awning rail?

Some say mild steel, others say stainless or 'coated'.

What should I use?

P.S. Which size and should they be counter sunk or dome headed etc?

My bailey had stainless and I replaced them with new stainless from screwfix as some had rounded off heads. Counter sunk for me.

Personally I'd choose stainless over carbon steel. Awning rails are anodised and I think any electrolytic corrosion would be minimal. Look at the screws for your fridge vents and stuff. Bet they are stainless and they screw into aluminium 10 times thinner than an awning rail.
