i would love to no how many rotten or damp elddis caravans
owners are on this site.
maybe i should start up the damp and rotten elddis club. might make elddis take quality control a priority.
and maybe that would make the build quality better.
and stop shoddy workmanship.

If you are talking about 90s built caravans in general, there do tend to be a lot around with water ingress. The damp comes first but the rot only happens because the water ingress is not detected & repaired. If the caravan is serviced & damp checked every year & repairs carried out as required then all well & good but once the caravan is a few yrs old & warranty expired, the annual services tend to stop & water ingress goes unrepaired.
To expect a caravan 10-15yrs old to remain watertight without regular checks & maintinence is unrealistic & cannot really be considered a manufacturing fault. Granted a more modern 'van should not leak for the first few yrs but I think most have long water ingress guarantees that need service intervals adhered to, to remain current.
got to agree 100% with tentz ,mines a 98 model ,its had its problems i have cured repaired as much as i care to ,its in generally good 90% right order ,everything in that should work does .so basically i dont give a monkeys
Hi guys thanks 4 reply, my van is a 2004, one owner from new etc,etc, take a look at the photos on my wifes page. sueboz. Our van is not leaking thru age and normal wear and tear, the van has been very badly made, the roof doesn't even fit over the side of the van so the gap has been filled with mastic as you will see on the photos. I totally agree with Tentz it is unrealistic to expect a caravan to remain water tight but i do expect it to have been made water tight in the first place
