Hi there
I have a Electrolux RM4271 fridge which has stopped working on 240 v and 12 v
although still works on gas, does this mean both elements have gone?
Would really appreciate advice, thank you.

The 12v element only works on the 12s (gray socket) hook up to the tow car with the engine running
Check all the trip switches are up and any fuses on the 240v side

"..... does this mean both elements have gone?...."
You need to be sure as replacement elements are about £75 each.
See here.

Anyway Chirb, identical question,
Gary said: "If I was a betting man, I'd offer odds of 250:1 on the thermostat and 11:4 on the element
Get yourself a cheap ?3 multimeter and check the resistance across the element, it should be 470 ohms or there abouts"

Reply came back:
"Thank you very much Guys. The Mains Heater Element was naff. Found it fairly easy to replace and gave the Gas Jet a clear out at the same time, cheaper than paying for a new fridge - one price I was quoted was ?811.00!!!
I would still like to know how to remove the Mains Thermostat switch thermo coupling from the fridge where it appears to share a channel with the Gas Thermostat switch coupling. Any ideas please?"

To which, Gary said:
"Both thermostat sender tubes fit in channels side by side in the left hand finned heat cold exchanger at the back of the fridge. Several 'torx' screws hold the exchanger and these must be removed to release it, once free it slides down off the thermostat tubes and these can then be straightened out and pulled out from the top of the fridge.
Generally though unless theres a green discharge coming from the tubes their ok."
Hope this helps.
