- I currently use an external water supply ( barrel) and draw the water with a Whale 881 submersible pump- - It is pumping water without any problems except that when filling my Trauma water heater ( i.e when the hot tap is turned on) it brings water into the trauma and up to the hot tap, but when I turn off the tap it seems to draw the water back out of the Trauma and back into the barrel - , thefore the next time I use the hot tap it is blowng air out ( like it would when you first attachj after winterising - should the pump have a non retrn valve ?? has this happened to anyone before -- Help
The pumps tend not to have non-return valves, but the inlet filter on the side of the van or the water heater itself should have one.
I can't remember if our Crystal filter has a NRV, but the Carver Cascade 2GE certainly does.
If all the taps are closed, it shouldn't be possible for water to run back out of the system, so check that everything is shut off properly and you haven't got an air leak.
If we try and drain down our system, we have to open all the taps to allow air in so the water can come out.
I have taken the inlet filter from the side of the van and there is a small rubber non return valve inside it - small piece of plastic also broken which was allowing the nrv to slip to the side ....I have taken the JB weld out and hopefully repaired the inside plastic to hold the nrv in place - keeping the fingers crossed.
the truma water heater has a non return valve at the end of the cold water supply, odd times these can leak back in the barrel.a warm pipe outside is a sign of this.
old email
The non return valve would be located somewhere on the cold feed to the boiler, the water sounds as if it is backfeeding into the aquaroll and the non return valve will need replacing.
Kind Regards

------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
There is a nrv on the inlet pipe, beyond the pump entry. you can access it under the front seat of the van. you may need an additional light cause it tends to be a bit dark there. Also, it will take two people to do this. I had my wife assist me, she was great!
I have recently have the same problem with compass corona.glad to see their should be a nrv on pipe, could anybody if there is before I look as caravan is in storage some way away ruggy1944
