Hi all,

Very odd problem if anyone has any ideas please?

I plugged my Ranger 500/5 into the mains on Tuesday ready for a weekend away this weekend. Normally a couple of days is plenty of time for the thing to get cold.

Checked this morning and the top vent is warm as I would have hoped but the bottom vent stone cold. Checking inside, the freezer appears to be working OK but the fridge doesn't feel that cold. Am I imagining it because it is cold outside or is this a possibility ?

The voltage meter shows the power is getting through and as I say the freezer seems to be OK. I don;t particularly want to take it into the engineers if it is something silly. Should the lower vent get warm ?

I've read loads of forums and they all seem to be that the fridge doesn't work at all, I can't find a single post on half of it working so hoping I am imagining it. Is it possible ? I know some posts say about the unit not working if stood for a long time, but it has only been out of use since May - and as I say, some of it is working....

Any suggestions welcome before I put my hand in my pocket again.

Thanks folks

I have just sold my Ranger this year.I always fill ice cube tray and put in top. When left overnight it was always frozen ok. There will be warmth from top vent but not bottom as cold air goes in bottom and warm out out the top. You can always put a fridge thermometer in bottom to check temp.

Have you put anything in the fridge ?

It's always best to put some things in the fridge otherwise it might not get cold.

I always put some bottles of beer or cans of drink in the fridge while it's getting cold.

Remember - you should really check how cold the items in the fridge are, and not the temp in the fridge. (if that makes sense!)

just sold our 500/5.the fridge on EHU never feels really cold.if freezer is ok then its fine.set the temp to mark 7,coldest.if warm air is leaving the top vent that says its working.best as said a fridge thermometer in bottom to check temp only cost £4 and the easy way to check..

The whole fridge is cooled from that freezer compartment so it won't feel that cold inside when empty. You wil probably find its ok when you use it. Try putting a can of drink in it overnight, if the can is cold in't morning then its ok.

Thanks very much for all the help.
I put an ice cube tray in the freezer and a couple of bottles of water in the fridge (though I like the beer idea though !!) before I went to work this morning. Just checked, ice cubes frozen and cold water. Didn't realize the lower vent was in inlet so that explains why it still isn't warm.

Thanks very much for all the suggestions.
