I hope you all will be able to give me some advice on this,
We brought a cheap caravan a few weeks ago its a Sprite Alpine Super about a 1990, did not expect a lot for what we paid.
After removing the wallpaper someone had stuck all over it.
It has damp on the left side wall and on the rear of the van.
The problem is that the cowboy has stuck Ply over the damp area's but on top of the original wall boards so ever thing around it does not fit ( ie: the window seals ) and the damp is still there underneath the ply, and starting to come though it. But it seems to be stuck fast.
If I try to pull this off do you think it will pull all the wall with it or just the underneath wall board. I am hopping for some really good advice on how to remove all this ply and start again using some of the advice given on this forum.

you could take the window seal out and then try putting a wallpaper scaper between the ply and original wall board to split them apart and then have a read of the fix club on here on how to do the repairs and were to buy new wall board

I think Sheff's problem is that he doesnt know whats going to come off along with the original wallboard, Insulation, framework, etc.
the only other way I can think of is to use a sharp blade to score the ply with and remove it a bit at a time 'that way he won't have to panic about everything comeing off the wall at once

This may seem a bit brutal but as bill60 said, start from say a window opening. In my limited experience, having done the inside front of a van I bought cheep when I first started out, if it comes away with board then it probably need replacing. Keep as much of the insulating foam as you can as this can be used once dry enough. I replaced the battens with treated tile batten. Making sure that they were position appropriate to where fixtures were made, window catches etc. From memory I used one of the "sticks like ****" bonding glue.I also replaced the window strips and seals. Had that van for a number of years and traded it for a newer one. Two things to remember, what you paid for it and what you are likely to get for it after a few years of, hopefully, fantastic use.

I think maybe that I am going to take it off in small pieces as you all sugest. So in the next few days I will try and get the time to have a go at this. Will also try to get some photo's of it before I start to show what it looks like.
Round the window it is in small pieces and filled with filler, like what you would use on your walls indoors. I think its done like this to get the shape of the window easyly.
have a look at damp around rear side window by dman if its about five posts down on this page from yours it will give a idea of how to replace the wall board etc .
This is the photo of the window area, it looks alright but it is 4mm proud of the window Rubber Seal. The next photo is of the complete side part upto the top cuboards where there is damp inside them
The White is polyfiller, will need to remove top cuboards and bed unit
Do not know whats happening but I do not seem to be able to get the second photo to come up here from my profile.
This is the other photo of my van, as you can see on the left of the photo is where the damp is coming through this ply, it just covered it up for a while so I need to get this off and start again, the problem as I have said and have had good avice how to remove because it is still solid.

It has been a bit of time since I was last here, have been busy plus trying to get on with the repairs to my Sprite, have not got that far really.
Have removed all the ply put on by the other owner, and removed quite a bit of the damp original wall boarding. I have not heard of any one else that seems to have this problem that I am having at the moment. Under the original boarding I have metal bands running from floor to ceiling also I think round the window, my problem is where the boarding was damp it cam away from these bands easy, but where the board is dry you just can not seem to lift it off with a scraper or chisle.
Was hoping to find the Wizards e-mail to see if he had this problem when repairing his Sprite, but just can not seem to get any of the search bars to find him.
So boys do you have any good ideas as to how this could be removed from these metal bands they are 3 to 4 inches wide and about 3 feet apart and made of ally I think.
