as the title says this is a bit of a long shot really...we have an elderly ( 1992)SWIFT CORNICHE 15/2,

and she has recently developed a fault of the n/s rear indicator, it works when it wants, I have investigated it and found that the bulb holders at some point in history must have been causing problems before and the previous owner has jerry rigged the holder , now his handy work and the holder are kaput with no chance of an effective, lasting repair.

do's anyone know of a good reliable caravan spares outlet that offers spares for older caravans or are there any members who could sell me the part I need ?

all help gratefully recieved

Presumably you need a new light unit, yes? If original is unobtainable then just buy a couple of light units from a trailer supplier & replace both sides. here for example. Easy enough to wire up, wires are colour coded. Put some sealant behind new units to prevent water getting in.

If you look carefully at the lens you should find the manufacturers name, probably Hella back in the 90's in which case if you contact your local distributor of auto electrical parts they will be able to supply something either the same of close to the original.

Not sure if you have solved this or not yet but here goes

Simple option. Try eBay or one of the online caravan breakers really your best bet for changing the whole unit.

Cheaper option (more work) an hour in a local car scrapyard. You need to look for older cars pref pre 1990 that were not fitted with modular units for the back lights. These had individual lamp holders which could then be used to fit into the rear of the lense unit you have and connect the cables to the existing wiring that is there.

If you have metal tracks at the rear of the light unit then follow the two you need back to the connector to identify the cables you need to connect to.

Either solder the cables there or quick and easy use some scotchlock connectors

Hope it helps

Best regards

Ian

Fairly standard light units probably. A caravan shop will have what you need on the shelf.

Examples....

towsure 1

towsure 2

Jacksons 1

Jacksons 2

If all else fails, you could screw a new trailer board to the back of the van, and run the wiring under the van (ensuing it is secured) to the car.
Been there and done this

nothing like this is it?

Due to corrosion being a constant problem, you used to be able to get complete bulb holders to fit into light units but don't seem to be able to find them at the moment?
