Hey all, Been out in my van now and discovered (or caused I'm not sure) the zig unit isn't charging the battery nor is it allowing me to use the 12v lighting through the hookup ( I believe this unit should allow me to use the lights by transforming to 12 v from 240) I went ahead and ordered one and got it for a steal at just over 30 quid. But on inspection it seems that a repair has already been carried out on the old zig.......honestly it has been butchered so now the connectors and stuff are different as in the back has been altered quite a lot. I can trace all but some of the wires so don't have an issue with most of them but I have a separate connector with all black wires that I cannot seem to match up with the new unit. Could anyone help advise what these are or or point me to a reliable source of ZIG unit wiring diagrams. Thanks
Hi Grampian, I am not sure on the model of the zig but its a Swift Corniche 14/4 not really sure on the year either (sorry). I would assume that this unit has a charger as it has previously charged my battery or at least kept the green light on when running on 240 volt at my address and that there is a switch on the unit that says "charger". I'm very confident looking at the back of the unit that the unit has a charging circuit (pink wires) as the person who fixed it stated that this was the charging circuit. Its the extra black wires that don't seem to be on the replacement unit which is identical in every way apart from the mystery black wires and connectors. Am I right in assuming that if it has a switch that says charger on it that this will charge the battery from the 240v hookup? It has a switch that gives me the option to charge from the car or the caravan.
So it has now been replaced with a newer version and it turns out it is charging now but the leisure battery isnt accepting charge. Can get round the battery discharging any further by having a battery charger plugged in whilst on hookup that keeps the lights nice and bright. Picked one up on ebay for £30. Now just need to get back out in it. Heading to Port o Spittal caravan park in early May. I was there about a month ago on a solo fishing trip and loved the place.
