We took the 'van away for the first time in ages. I checked before we left: all water, gas and electric systems: all fine.
Once we get on site, the (fixed) regulator packed in immediately. Bypassed with normal regulator and a length of hose.(I had leak checker with me!)
But the Truma Rapid Storage water heater failed on all fronts. Immediately and repeatedly took out the site 16A supply. Isolated the heating element and tried it on gas: and nothing!!
Any suggestions welcomes: totallt dead on gas and drawing in excess of 16A on electric...any thoughts please?
Hi Iain, that sounds both odd and expensive, it's unusual to fail on every option. Any signs of a water leak around the inside casing, maybe shorted out the mains supply?

I got the gas side working last night, maybe it was a loose plug on the control board, but after removing the circuit board, and giving a good talking to, the ignitor began to work and, after a big bang (!) the burner kicked in and works perfectly.
So whether I have a failed mains heating element (but nothing tripped inside the 'van) or the Caravan Club bollard trips prematurely. (It was a new style of bollard) I'll find out tonite.
Well that sounds a lot more positive mate, I wonder if there was some sort of electrical arcy-sparky tracking going on due to damp whilst it's been sitting idle all winter, we have had a very wet one. Hope all goes well from now on.

Significant earth fault on the mains side! The rcd in the house trips immediately, so it looks like a new element is required.Anyone on here know if its possible to replace just an element?
Yes, you can change the element, be advised you will need to check which element you need there are three, the info you need is on a label on the top of the heater.
I had an element supplied & fitted last month by an Mcea repair man.
I am not handy at DIY & it cost £120. I was happy with this & I believe they offer nationwide coverage to your home or site.
You will find the element size on a label on top of the Ultrastore.
