Hi,got a problem with my 06 Mondeo estate plug in towbar electrics wiring (7 pin).
When I use the indicators, the hazard lights flash on the van, whilst they work normally on the car.
The harness was only fitted last January by a professional towbar fitter, but I supplied the loom (WItter)
I've checked the usual suspects but still cannot fix,any and all help gratefully received.

If it has always done this since being fitted, must be wired incorrectly possibly two wire touching. If it was ok but has only just started doing it, i would suggest undoing the screws holding socket on an check if it is full of water, shorting across back of pins.

If there is nothing obvious, then I would suggest something like this to check it.
A lot easier than guessing!!

Although not impossible, I'd be suprised if this was due to water ingress, as the flasher wiring in a 12N are completely opposite each other; anything causing a short would surely cause other problems too I'd of thought.
Certainly dismantle the socket to visually inspect as a starting point.

I assume the wiring has worked correctly since fitting?

The one common factor is the audible warning beeper (assuming you've had it fitted) which maybe faulty and causing a short over the flasher circuit.

Dedicated plug in loom or scotchloks?

If scotchloks or similar, Check the wiring on the passenger side and tell us what colour wires are joined to what.

Have they worked properly previously?

Hi Grampian,it's a dedicated harness, witter I think,a local towbat company fitted it for me.
It's suppose to be fit and forget, but somethings gone belly up again.
They are going to have the car in to check it over sometime this week.
I phoned the shop this am,they will refund if faulty.

Hi it's me again,it's been a while since I first posted this problem on here,I've sorted the Hazard lights it was the control module, replaced by the supplier.
Now the offside side lights will not work on the caravan, the only thing that could cause that is the other control box.
The supplier is trying to supply me with one,but they are in short supply, due to the age of the kit.
If anyone knows of a company called Conway that makes these relay/control module please could you let me know.
