Hi I have ripped off my awning rail at the rear end of my caravan whilst passing through a petrol payment guichet in France. It is still mostly attached but is bent in places. Is this repairable?
Hi, you may only need to change a section enough to eliminate the damage. carefully cut off and remove damaged part. drill and screw existing rail at end to secure. then cut a new section to required length and drill it so as to be able to secure and use sealant as you go. BUT MAKE SURE YOU CAN GET RAIL TO MATCH FIRST, finally smooth off joint with a file to prevent awning snagging as its fed through rail.
Doubt I'll find a matching rail in France but will try when I get home. Think we'll have to go awningless for the rest of the hols which have unfortunately just begun. Thanks for the advice.
