Hi just been away with van for new year and found that battery wasn't charging on checking around found that the fuse had blown but don't know how or why has anyone got any ideas thanks

Fuses blow because they get too hot. This can be caused by too much current passing though them either due to a short circuit (wiring fault) or an overload (plugging too much in)

The short circuit may be a faulty piece of equipment plugged in.

Cheers navver but we have all low wattage equipment and only had the tv plugged but its only the battery fuse that blows which is why I'm puzzled

Hi have you checked the charging rate, maybe too much power going in?

How do you check the charging rate on battery to know if charging correct please

You need a meter which you put on your battery poles with the van on EHU.You should get a reading around 14v but no more.

Have you checked the battery for water ?use only distilled water to top it up.

Cheers Jeff I've got a volt reader in caravan which is on a panel for caravan lights,pump,etc will look there and no i have not checked water will do when got chance many thanks

Hi the meter you are talking about on the panel is the battery output. May be worth checking the charging rate ie what's going into the battery by the built in charging unit.
