I thought I would share my little problem with you, so that Hymer owners, particularly, can be forewarned and forearmed!
I had a little knock in my 2003 Hymer Nova 470 last summer: I scraped a wall on a turn, and unfortunately, a nail in the wall caught in my awning rail and separated it from the panels of the 'van along about 2 feet of its length.
In October 2014,I got insurance approval for a repair at Lowdhams in Huddersfield....and that was the last thing that happened. Lowdhams now tell me that they are having trouble with Hymer spares in Germany, and can't promise that they will ever get the spare part (ie awning rail), and they have asked me to provide new photographs so that they can see if a non-Hymer alternative might work.
If this is true, all of us who own older Hymer 'vans and motorhomes are one bump away from a write off.
I am worried for my 'van, and frustrated at the lack of progress and the poor outcome. Grrrr!
Two feet is not a great length.Have you phoned some one who is a panel beater or a coach works as im sure they would fix it without putting on a new rail.
Send an email direct to Hymer, or fill in the message form on the hymer website. They will reply quite promptly. Your message surprises me parts for my identical Nova 470 have always been promptly available from Hymer, indeed I ordered a pair of front running lights from them last month and they arrived a week later.
I can not see a non Hymer rail fitting, the shape of UK awning rails is completely different.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013
Bodywork specific spares for an 11yr old caravan of any make would probably be scarce or unobtainable now. The older a caravan gets, the more it is make do & mend for repairs.

i have a 2003 Hymer Nova 470. I have a crack in the front window and have been trying to source a replacement.
EECO who make acrylic windows cannot do the replacement because the add a hinge to the top.
