hi new to this site,just purchased caravan spent two hours trying to park it up between two caravans at dunton park essex.i got stuck and had to pay £25 to have it towed bearing in mind this is day 1 i was not happy.can anyone suggest a company in essex that supplies and fits caravan movers please?many thanks in advance.
practise makes perfect! get some cones and practise your reversing! help is you are reversing the caravan so that its turning on the drivers side = better vision that way!
next time you putting it back let me know, I could do with £25
Movers are the dogs B's in my opinion,but try a reversing course as well in case your mover dies,you could also ask someone on site if they could do it for you,(don't be embarrassed)and watch carefully how it's done.As for fitters/suppliers,I cant help but Google motor mover suppliers,there must be a few in your neck of the woods.
Agree with above, get some practise or get on a course as it's a good skill to have. Having said that Motor Movers are a great peice of kit and can remove any stress from arriving / leaving site.
They might seem expensvive but they are quite cheap when compared to the cost of a new clutch on your car !
As for makes I can only recommend Powrtouch as we have never had a single problem with ours.
Sorry I can't help with your origional question of fitters in Essex, but I'm sure someone else will be along with some help.
if not try your local caravan dealer - They should be able to fit it for you or recommend someone.
We have a Reich mover, worth every penny we paid for it, without it we would have been forced to give up the hobby a long time ago. They are also good at manouvering into very tight spaces and getting off muddy wet pitches.
As others have said, also worth booking yourself onto one of those club manouvering courses, they teach you so much, and with a little practice you will become at ease with reversing your caravan.

My view, bidge,is that you should be spending your money on a towing course and then get some practice in -- perhaps on a supermarket car park at night.
Caravan movers are only of any use on site when the caravan is unattached. Sooner or later you will need to reverse whilst on the road. It has happened to me several times when you meet something like a combine harvester coming the other way! If you can't reverse you'll end up sitting looking at each other because he won't ( or can't )
Hubby can reverse with right instructions I just don't give right instructions!

best advice I was ever given for reversing, look over your shoulder at the trailer and 'steer the trailer'. Sounds odd but is quite natural.
Another piece of advice ... try to reverse straight back into a spot as much as you can, its easier to go straight back (mostly) than to try and get the trailer in at an angle (although can be done with plenty of practice).
I find that motor movers are very handy for getting into tight spots etc but it is also good to get the trailer into roughly the right position first.
Oh, and you'll no doubt get plenty of 'purists' telling you that a motor mover should never be used and that everyone should be able to revers like an artic driver - I say ignore them and do what you are comfportable with, better to use a mover than damage your van/trailer and someone elses!
And, yes a MM is a fantastic investment!

i have to have a mover to get my van into my garden no way could i reverse in.. i could reverse the car in and get the van out but not the other way around..
money permitting i think a mover is an essential.. one of those thing you can manage without (mostly) but having one makes life a lot easier. he he
