First post, hope it doesn't bore you all to much.....
I've had my Avondale Osprey 2003 since 2000, and we love it.
I got it serviced for the first time last summer and had quite a bit done to it.
Although I now will get it serviced every year, I still would like to find out what's the best practice for taking care of it.
It is sited permanently for this season.
I hear all the horror stories about damp etc and would like to make sure that this doesn't happen to ours, what are the best procedures to ensure it stays dry.
Also I notice that on a morning, there is sometimes loads of condensation on the windows, why does this happen, and how can I stop it.
Any advice or pointers to the right way would be great.
To ease your worries, condensation on the windows is normal, it's just the moisture from breath, cooking etc that is normally held suspended in the warm air condensing on the cold surface of the window pane, ventilation is the answer.

I guess leaving one of the windows on the second catch will sort that out?
Another question, the flexi seal that's on the exterior of the caravan, in between the awning rail and joins etc, how often does this need to be re done?
I always open the windows onto the middle catch at night. If i get overheated i get terrible migraines.
Check all the vents are clear in the floor etc, You may have stored something over them.
Good ventilation is a must. Check the seals and mastic on any trim on the van. If it looks like moss is getting in or not sealing then get it looked at sooner rather than later.
If sited, leave the handbrake off and chock the wheels.
A squirt of grease in the hitch is worth doing a couple of times a year.
If its permanently sited, spray the corner steady screws & joints with lithium grease & wind the steadies up & down once a yr. Otherwise if you want to move caravan after years you may find steadies are seized.

Cheers, I'll check vents etc are cleared next time I'm up there, hopefully next weekend.

well you could stop cooking , breathing, and washing as those are the main reasons why we all get condensation esp in the mornings, we control it by having a roof vent open and possibly the window cracked open a tiny bit, and on the first catches.
