Got some damp in washroom wall in a 1997 eld is ex300 hurricane. How do you remove the wallboards to assess the damage?

I Broke through and used an old flexible bread knife behind it. It was bonded to polystyrene but no problem and cheap to replace. Staples are used in the main timber frame and I used a bolster chisel in these areas to ease it off.
