Hi Everyone This has produced a reaction I take the point made by Wobbly Box ,yes you are entitled to your opinion but after the same problem on the last two caravans my expirence is that the British caravan industry in the 20 th century is incapable of building a caravan that will not leak. This is our expirence . Motobiman you thought's are a mirror of ours. Knowing what dealers are like they want to sell not repair that is why them leave them in their compounds getting wetter for months on end . Depriving you of the use of your caravan that you purchased in good faith. But they seem to think that is fine. "loss of amenity" google it. As I stated in my last post to have to take it back every time you have a problem at your cost in this day and age is unreasonable... I did try to ring the dealer to report the problem when it was discovered but could not get a reply , the NCC engineer was there and I just thought "protect your investment" very sad that Wandahome's Knottingley did not agree with this plan of action. It is as silly as a Yorkshire fitting burst in your home and you left it leaking until you had got in touch with the company you purchased it from . It is a stupid thing to expect people to do when you could stop the problem by turning off the stop cock it would not cure the problem but it would minimise the damage. That is what I did. We will never all agree it would be a boring world if we did. I have been a caravanner since the early 50's first one was an Eccles Alert, we have had £100 bangers, four coachmans ,swifts . Never had a problem with water ingress until the Bailey Willow (now dropped from their catalogue ) and now the Elddis.

It's just a shame that your going to lose a lot of money by selling so soon especially as the problem is now fixed. Would you not consider holding onto it and at least getting a few years enjoyment from it.
Does your warranty state the caravan has to be returned to the supplying dealer for repairs? If you go down the line of the repair being a temporary measure to prevent further damage why don't you just take the van back and let them carry out their own repair and not invalidate your warranty. Or let them make arrangements to send out their own repair engineer.
Does that mean if you sell the caravan you can't transfer the warranty?
Just arrived at our new caravan and guess what the near side front bunk is wet through and drips of water can be observed from the roof area . So here we go again i have spoken to a very pleasant lady this evening at Wandahomes and have sent her five photo's of our/their problem. I have asked to return it at the end of September . So they can sort out the roof vent fan that works when it feels like it. The microwave that only works for 8 minutes and then trips out it is a daewoo and has been changed once before. So it's off back home and buckets left in position.
So here we go again

Emptying out the caravan and giving it a clean. Bucket & Brush only (don't believe in Karcher's on caravans). Chill out watch Mr Rooney in his office. He scored his goal and to celebrate the Elddis joined in and started to drip water on me and the Near side front bunk. Great video shot for over a minute on record. Put a bowl under it and guess what ?? Still dripping this morning in a slightly different place. The really puzzling thing is I finished washing the van about four and hours later it started to leak. A clue is the large plastic panel that frames out the "Sky Scape window" and the large Heiki roof panel. Is now bowing/distorting water is gathering up there ?

Hi everyone the caravan has now been formally rejected . by returning it to the dealer, All now in legal hands so very little to say with out prejudicing our case. Still amazed that after many years the british manufacturers seem incapable of waterproofing a box. Sad but in our case true.
Also we have been told that having damp problems does not affect the resale value of the van.

Good luck with your claim, more people should stick to their guns, if the caravan is not right, it should be rejected, and now by law you can within 30 days for a full refund, after 30 days the dealers have an option to repair or replace within 6 month.
Hi everyone. Just an update on our leaky caravan adventure. As you will remember we formally rejected the Elldis Crusader Super Cyclone back in September by delivering it back to the selling dealer over in Knottingley Yorkshire .It was very difficult just driving away from over £21 k of caravan .We then placed it into legal hands. The dealer wriggled and delayed at every turn. They repaired the "trivial" problems we had without any authorisation or permission from us the owners. The "trivial " repairs according to the worksheet took 24.5 hours when you look on you tube and other sites it gives a new build time of around 8.5 hours for a complete caravan from chassis to finished product. In my book a trivial fault would not take 24.5 hours to rectify. They threatened us with storage charges at £100 per month.. But we stuck to our guns and eventually we received an offer just £400 below our requested refund. This is now in the bank..
It is a very sad reflection on the British Caravan Industry that we can send a man to the Moon and back BUT WE CANNOT BUILD A WATERPROOF BOX. At this point I must point out that this statement is our experience In the last few years. A brand new Bailey Retreat Willow (now discontinued ) and A brand new Elddis Crusader Super Cyclone...Both beautiful caravans both did not remain watertight for a year. Never mind 5 or 10 years.
We have no wish at all to buy another caravan.
It shows if you are willing to front up to these "dealers" you can win the fight. as we have done ......if it is not fit for purpose. Or not as described ETC. The Elddis is now up for sale on the dealers website you can soon spot it it has a Fiamma handle by the door and a none standard tv wall bracket. No mention although they may not have to by law that it has had "trivial" repairs carried out
Many thanks for ALL the MEMBER'S for your comments and advice.

In your previous thread about this is was suggested after you got the refund from the Bailey that you bought a German built caravan. I think that would still be the good advice.
Good result about the refund but it still don't give you a caravan. As pointed out before. If you want a site caravan then plenty of Hobbys, Tabberts & Fendts etc on ebay.
it seems such a shame that these experiences can out you off. although I totally understand. my 1st caravan was wet through but I was non the wiser at the time, 2nd van was a coachman which I loved, although I didn't know much about coachman build, we just liked the layout, I hedged my bets with my 3rd and bought a dethleffs nomad, and it really opened my eyes, can stand on the roof to clean it, the front is solid, not hollow(or bendy) to the touch, and it cost no more than the equivalent UK built van, and it's UK spec regarding door side ect. what I suppose I mean is if you like Caravanning don't give up too soon, there are good vans out there
...This would make a good site caravan. Probably reasonable final price & I bet it's sound as a pound. Bristol, so not too far from you. Why can't the UK build such practical caravans?
