I have spent the past 24hours trying to establish why no water comes through the tap even though the pump is running. I have stripped the pump iand after discussing the problem with a really helpful guy from Bradtech we assumed it was a problem with the head. I hastily purchased one by express and took delivery today , and......no water
I have now probably read everyone's exploits about similar problems.. I can feel that air is being pumped up through the tap by lightly holding my finger on the tap flow, with just a smidging of water although I can hear it gurgling. I have checked pipes and push fit connectors for air intake , removed the Trauma heater dump valve and checked it works and removed the tap controlling water from inboard and outside tank. I did read that when you replace pumps , and they are very dry you should lift a container ..above .. the outside connector to help prime it . It's now 8.20 pm and trying to keep my cool and hoping for advice.
I also spoke to Whale who really just suggested I buy a new pump but I'm not 100% sure that it is that.
Has anyone experienced the same and managed to correct it, if so please let me know
Are the shower taps open? If they are then try closing them as the pump is trying to push air out at the highest point.
Also trying tapping the pump against the side of the water barrel as sometimes air can get dislodged in the pipe to the water inlet housing.
Hi ,sorry the important thing I forgot to say that this is the in board Whale Smart flo uv 08140 ,the top part being the motor and this is attached to the head which is where the water flows through and which I replaced yesterday. I am going try and fill the intake pipe with water to see wether this helps prime the pump .
What I don't quite understand that when the pump is turned on from the panel you hear the pump whirring before you lift the tap. I suppose that maybe as there is no water inside the (new) head fitted yesterday where there is a switch inside.
This pump has now been superceeded by the FP0814 but still not convinced before I spend another £100 or so.
I have commented before on the horrendously high spares prices of Bailey and probably other caravan manufactures spares and postage costs. The item known as the heater dump valve is obtainable online for £29.75 .....it's £47 from Bailey, it is exactly the same item
The new pump can be purchased for £89 , its £129 from most dealers !!
I'm not familiar with onboard water tanks, pumps and how the system works so hopefully someone else may be able to offer further advice on this. Hope you get it sorted.
OK, I volunteer to be the idiot who says "is there water in the internal tank?". And.. If your water pump switch has 3 positions.. Int on, off, ext on.. Its set to the correct option?
I shall stop acting like my better half now and let you get back to the problem.

Thank you for replies and perhaps now I may be able to help others who have had similar problems relating to an in board water pumps such as mine the Whale UV 0814.
This started with a poor flow through the taps....I also had an annoying pulsing (call it what you will) which meant that I was always turning the pump off, rather than having to listen to the pulsing every 30 seconds or so. All came to a head one day when I had connected the refilled aqua roll....I could get not water at all , just a gurgling noise but no water. I immediately thought pump and after several suggestion I decided to buy a new head £47 ....it didn't cure the problem. I did speak with Whale and after explaining my probs , they said it must be the pump. So now becoming very frustrated I purchased the update FP 0814. I was very pleased when it arrived and fitted it immediately.., same problem . . I had now spent £170 and still no water. However with the new pump it comes with a clear strainer that can be attatched , through this i noticed that it was not fully filled with water , with the pump running. . I then took a close look at the O rings on the connector, having been told by a caravan service centre that they were fine. I then remembered I had an assortment of Theseus my garage and whilst not exactly the correct diameter. ( slightly to thick ) I tried them...and...this was my problem.air was being sucked through the connector I have to say over the past months I had become aware of the pulsing from the pump, and read reviews from others that there pumps were doing exactly the same. Some were quite happy to switch the pump off. Whilst I wouldn't be 100% this could be the same problem . The new O rings have remedied the problem completely. And the pulsating noise is no more. . The only thing I do find, is the new pump, is slightly more noisey . But I am not complaining. I do hope this may help others.
The other thing I have become aware of is that when I was useing the old pump from the inboard supply it did not go through a filter , with the new pump it has a strainer that you fit . But apparently , if I am understanding correctly , you cannot use this strainer if you are on a fully serviced site.
